June marks the 25th National Work Safety Month this year, with the theme of Everyone Prioritizes Safety, Everyone Masters Emergency Response — Identify and Rectify Potential Risks and Hidden Dangers. On June 16, the main event of the 2026 National Safety Publicity and Consultation Day was held in Hefei, Anhui Province, jointly organized by the General Office of the Work Safety Committee of the State Council, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the People's Government of Anhui Province.

Zhang Chengzhong, Deputy Director-General of the Work Safety Committee of the State Council and Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Management, attended the event and delivered a speech. Wang Qingxian, Governor of Anhui Province, gave an address. Song Yuanming, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Work Safety Committee of the State Council and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Management, presided over the activity. Wang Dongwei, Executive Vice Governor of Anhui Province, was also present.

Zhang Chengzhong stressed that the National Safety Publicity and Consultation Day aims to further publicize and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on work safety. We should make the people-first and life-first philosophy take deep root, better balance development and safety, and prevent and curb various accidents to the greatest extent, so as to underpin high-quality development with high-level safety. Efforts shall be intensified to improve the quality and efficiency of identifying and rectifying potential risks and hidden dangers. Relevant standards for judging major work safety hazards should be thoroughly studied and applied. Supervision over work sites, the entire production and operation process, and the full chain of responsibility implementation will be strengthened to enhance the professionalism of hazard inspection and the effectiveness of law enforcement supervision. We will continue to consolidate the public line of defense for work safety, further promote the initiative of bringing safety publicity into communities, villages, families, enterprises and schools. Typical cases will be used for warning education to help the public master safety knowledge and escape skills. Channels for internal reporting by enterprise employees and public tip-offs will be fully leveraged to mobilize all sectors and build a joint prevention and governance pattern for work safety.

In his address, Wang Qingxian noted that safety is the prerequisite for development and the most fundamental livelihood issue. In recent years, Anhui has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on work safety and the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, achieving a steady improvement in the work safety situation. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Anhui will adhere to the people-first and life-first principle, firmly hold the bottom line of work safety, and leverage scientific and technological innovation to boost the efficiency of risk investigation and hazard rectification. The urban lifeline safety project will be vigorously advanced to ensure safety is prioritized in every project and every link of economic and social development, and realize positive interaction between high-quality development and high-level safety. Taking this main event as an opportunity, Anhui will spread safety concepts, popularize safety knowledge and improve emergency response capabilities, so that the notion of Everyone Prioritizes Safety, Everyone Masters Emergency Response becomes a common practice and social norm, serving as the strongest guarantee for intrinsic safety.

Adhering to the principle of pragmatism and simplicity, the event featured scenario demonstrations, interactive experiences, on-site consultations and equipment displays to widely disseminate safety knowledge and help the public recognize risks, avoid dangers, eliminate hidden hazards and safeguard safety. During the event, the National Public Science Platform for Emergency Management was officially launched. Co-built by the Ministry of Emergency Management and the China Association for Science and Technology, and jointly initiated with China Media Group as the strategic partner, the database will provide high-quality emergency popular science resources for the public and help improve the overall emergency literacy of the whole nation.
