2025 Science and Technology Work Seminar Held by China Chemical Safety Association ——20 Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements Honored

On November 28, the China Chemical Safety Association held the 2025 Science and Technology Work Seminar in Beijing. The seminar reviewed the scientific and technological efforts over the past five years, recognized 20 outstanding scientific research achievements, and outlined key tasks for scientific and technological innovation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Lu Nianming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the association, attended the meeting and put forward requirements for the association’s scientific and technological work. Ma Xinni, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman, and Secretary-General, delivered the opening speech. Chief Engineer Cheng Changjin presented a report titled “Promoting High-Quality Development of the CCSA Through High-Level Scientific and Technological Innovation.”

The seminar noted that over the past five years, the association has closely focused on key tasks related to hazardous chemical safety production, addressing the practical needs of industry enterprises in risk prevention and control as well as the association’s consulting service requirements. Efforts have been made to strengthen talent cultivation and technological innovation, resulting in a large number of effective and socially influential achievements.

 

To further motivate employees to participate in scientific and technological innovation, the seminar honored a series of scientific and technological achievements that have supported hazardous chemical safety production, promoted the high-quality development of the association, and delivered significant social benefits. Among these, three projects including “Construction and Promotion of a Long-Term Mechanism for Expert Guidance Services” etc. were awarded the first prizes. Seven achievements, such as “Innovation in Resident Enterprise Safety Services for Chemical Parks and Application in Chemical Enterprise Transformation and Upgrading” etc. were awarded the second prizes. Ten achievements, including “Construction of a Key Technical Support System for Hazardous Chemical Safety Supervision and Tackling Industry Challenges” etc. received the third prizes.

Participants engaged in group discussions on the key focus areas for the association’s scientific research work for the next five years, putting forward suggestions for the association’s 15th Five-Year Plan and providing recommendations for the work of the association’s Technical Committee. After thorough discussions, it was decided to restructure the Technical Committee. The revised committee will consist of one chairperson, five vice chairpersons, and twenty-five members. It will establish four subcommittees for petrochemicals, basic chemicals, fine chemicals, and pharmaceutical chemicals to conduct risk assessments, develop and revise regulations and standards, and organize training in their respective fields. Additionally, the committee will coordinate the work of special task forces for high-risk sub-sectors, advancing risk assessment, guidance and support, and the application of new technologies.

Lu Nianming emphasized the critical importance of scientific and technological innovation in supporting the CCSA’s efforts to promote safety in the industry and its strategic role in driving high-quality development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. He called for thorough implementation of the scientific and technological innovation requirements outlined in the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, summarizing the outcomes of the conference, drafting the association’s 15th Five-Year Plan for science and technology, and promoting innovation in the association’s consulting services, training programs, and standard development. He also highlighted the opportunity presented by the restructuring of the Technical Committee to fully leverage its decision-making and driving force in scientific and technological innovation, improve top-level design, and refine working mechanisms. Furthermore, he stressed the need to promote intrinsic safety technology upgrades in enterprises such as those involved in fine chemical batch production, strengthen the development of original technologies, and better meet the industry’s safety enhancement needs. Finally, he emphasized the importance of creating platforms for entrepreneurship and innovation, encouraging employees to participate in key project research and innovative studies, exploring the association’s models for cultivating scientific and technological talents, fostering a conducive environment for innovation, and contributing greater wisdom and strength to the safe and sustainable development of the chemical industry.
