The first National College Student Hazardous Chemical Safety Knowledge Competition Wraps Up
The final of the first national hazardous chemical safety knowledge competition for college students was held at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology from April 19 to 20. As the first national event in the field of chemical engineering higher education in China with the theme of “hazardous chemical safety”, this competition serves not only as a stage for knowledge rivalry but also as a preview of college students’ future work safety. Eighty-eight teams from 49 colleges and universities advanced to the final. As the main supporting organization, the China Chemical Safety Association (CCSA) provided technical support for the competition.
The final was divided into three modules. Among them, the theoretical competition was designed based on essential safety knowledge for college students, covering safety awareness, risk identification and assessment, safety operation, personal protective equipment usage, and emergency treatment. The simulation competition, through virtual simulation scenarios, assessed participants on the management of hazardous chemical equipment in the laboratory, the use of protective facilities, the maintenance of emergency facilities, and operational standard implementation. The practical competition focused on participants’ competence in chemical reagent management, waste treatment, emergency disposal, and personal protection.
After a fierce competition, the competition has awarded a total of 10 team special prizes, 18 first prizes, 26 second prizes, 34 third prizes, and 22 individual "Safety Star" awards.
